Day by Day Itinerary
Arrival in Colombo → Nuwara Eliya (Base Camp)
Travel Time: Approx. 5.5 hours from Colombo to Nuwara Eliya. Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo. Private transfer to Nuwara Eliya, a charming hill station known for its cool climate and tea plantations. Optional Short Hike: Explore Victoria Park, a serene park with easy walking paths and great views of surrounding mountains. Evening: Relax and enjoy the colonial charm of Nuwara Eliya.
Horton Plains – World’s End & Baker’s Falls Trek
Travel Time: Approx. 1 hour each way to Horton Plains from Nuwara Eliya. Morning: Head to Horton Plains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its World’s End cliff and Baker’s Falls. Trek to World’s End: Hike through cloud forests and grasslands, ending at the dramatic cliff edge with views extending over 4,000 feet into the valley below. (Approx. 3–4 hours of hiking). Baker’s Falls: Stop by for a beautiful view of the waterfall on your return hike.
Nuwara Eliya → Ella – Ella Rock Sunrise Hike
Travel Time: Approx. 2 hours from Nuwara Eliya to Ella. Travel to Ella: Enjoy the scenic drive to Ella, a small town nestled in Sri Lanka’s southern hills. Morning Hike: Start early for the Ella Rock Trek. This is a moderate 3–4 hour trek with fantastic views of tea plantations and Ella Gap. The climb is challenging but rewarding with a panoramic view at the summit. Afternoon: After the hike, visit Nine Arches Bridge, an iconic railway bridge surrounded by lush greenery.
Ella – Little Adam’s Peak & Ravana Falls Trek
Travel Time: No travel today, hiking and exploring Ella. Morning: Little Adam’s Peak – A shorter, easy trek (1.5–2 hours), offering stunning views of the valley below. Perfect for a relaxing hike after yesterday’s big hike. Afternoon: Ravana Falls – Visit one of Sri Lanka's most scenic waterfalls. You can also take a short trek through the jungle leading to the falls.
Ella → Haputale – Lipton’s Seat Hike
Travel Time: Approx. 1.5 hours from Ella to Haputale. Travel to Haputale: Depart early for Haputale, a town famous for its panoramic views of Sri Lanka’s hill country. Lipton’s Seat Trek: Hike to Lipton’s Seat, a scenic viewpoint that offers 360-degree views of the southern plains and surrounding mountains. The trek takes about 3–4 hours and passes through lush tea plantations. Afternoon: Visit nearby Dambetenna Tea Factory for a tour and learn about Sri Lanka’s tea culture.
Haputale → Colombo – Departure
Travel Time: Approx. 5.5 hours from Haputale to Colombo. Morning Hike: Enjoy a short hike around Haputale or visit one of the local tea plantations for a quick exploration. Afternoon: Transfer back to Colombo for your departure.
